Our professional association was established in 1991 with the aim of promoting the professional status and improving the pay and working conditions of all interpreters and translators working in the State of New South Wales.
The objective was achieved in 1996 in cooperation with the Public Service Association of NSW, when an historic “Consent Award’ for interpreters and translators was negotiated with the Community Relations Commission,
which set a benchmark for adequate remunerations for interpreting and translation work. PAIT not only safeguards the interests of its members, it is also committed to improving the overall pay and working conditions for all interpreters and translators.
We therefore urge all practitioners in NSW to JOIN P.A.I.T.
